The Kiwanis Club of Snohomish recently made a $5,000 donation to the Bridge Receiving Center in Lake Stevens, a soft-landing place planned for children entering foster care. Making the presentation to Dan Hamer and Tracy Rubstello from Bridge Receiving Center was Kiwanis Club of Snohomish Incoming President, Melody Dana.
The purpose of Bridge Receiving Center is to receive kids first coming into Foster Care and allow them a place to land for up to 30 days while the Department of Children, Youth and Families (formerly known as Children’s Administration) identifies an appropriate placement for them.

Some of the children return home during this 30-day period, others move in with relatives and the rest transition into a licensed foster home. The Bridge Receiving Center is an operating partnership between Overlake Christian Church, Olive Crest, and Cedar Springs Camp. It is located off Highway 92 in Lake Stevens. The kids will have the opportunity to experience the fun activities in this camp-setting while also receiving therapeutic assessment and treatment to assist with the circumstances going on in their lives.

By early 2019, Hamer and Rubstello plan on opening the center to six foster children, ages 6 to 10. For more information, click to www.bridgereceivingcenter.org.

The Kiwanis Club of Snohomish meets every Thursday at Noon at Collector's Choice Restaurant, 215 Cypress Avenue, Snohomish, WA 98290. For more information, visit www.snohokiwanis.org.
